    Ecco** Zürich

Visited Ecco in late May. This two-star Michelin restaurant is well situated on the first floor of hotel Atlantis by Giardino - a bit far from the city centre of Zurich but definitely worth a visit. The weather was perfect for outdoor seating to enjoy the fresh air and a breathtaking sunset. I went for the 7 course tasting menu which was quite filling but didn't make me feel uncomfortable in the end. The food was professionally cooked. The service was impeccable with the hotel's general manager greeting me during the meal. What a lovely experience.

    au Beau Rivage Palace.

Anne-Sophie Pic au Beau Rivage Palace offers a delight in every sense from start to finish. An exceptionally enchanting dining experience with a feminine touch which I really liked.

The highlight from the menu was a playful twist on Swiss cheese fondue wrapped in beautiful green pasta. The taste and texture sensations dazzling on my tongue were absolutely sublime. Desserts were heavenly and the cheeseboard has to be seen to be believed - outstanding with an enormous variety to choose from.

Absolument magnifique! I highly recommend.

    Dabbous*, London.

We had a chance to visit Dabbous last summer, luckily before this much-loved Michelin starred restaurant closed down a year later for a new exciting project. It was the place that would make you want to live in Fitzrovia or somewhere nearby. Back in the glorious days, getting a table at Dabbous proved tougher than passing a corporate finance paper at university.

Highly acclaimed for its creative cuisine, the restaurant was set in a very stylish industrial looking space. Downstairs was a bar where they make great cocktails.

We chose a tasting menu which was inventive and perfectly executed. The food was marvellous, both in the way it looked and tasted. All of it was so simple to look at and very light to eat. I remember vividly the sourdough that arrived warm in a paper bag stamped with the day’s date. The side stood a teardrop of pale yellow butter. Simply delicious. To me, dessert was a real treat - camomile, vanilla and Manuka honey ice cream with crushed bee pollen. So beautifully presented that I never wanted to eat it.

    Typing Room, London.

Visited the Typing Room solo after watching The Great British Menu and it is just my type. This little gem is hidden in Town Hall Hotel, East London. The decor throughout was casual and charmingly relaxed. Staff were genuinely caring and knowledgable. I admire the immense pride they took in everything they served. The young vibrant open kitchen facing me was a real treat as I got to see Lee Westcott himself in action.

I opted for a 5 course tasting menu which specialises in British seasonal ingredients. The food was imaginative, thoughtful and, above all, delicious! Westcott's signature yeasted cauliflower dish was top of the draw. I also loved the freshly baked sourdough which was served with marmite butter - simple yet absolutely divine.

Why has this place got a star yet? No idea.
